COMMITTEE 16/17

Co-President : Morven Thompson

I'm also a fifth year medic, and I am delighted to be one of the Co-President's of the GP society. I hope to pursue a career in either GP or Psychiatry, as I have a particular interest in mental health, especially anxiety disorders and OCD. Outside of medicine I volunteer for a local counselling charity.

During this year I hope we can see this society grow, and hopefully encourage more people to see how interesting and diverse this specialty is!

Co-President : Simon Friderichs

I’m very excited to be a part of the growing Edinburgh GP Soc this year! I am from British Columbia, Canada and am very interested in the opportunities that a career in GP offers in terms of the ability to work around the world. I’m drawn to a career in general practice because of the unique privilege of providing a continuity of care to a wide range of patients in all stages of life. I’m particularly interested in rural GP medicine with additional training in emergency care. I’m looking forward to the many GP events on the horizon and I hope we will be able to stem some enthusiasm towards this rewarding field of medicine!

Co-President : Emily Moran

Hi I'm Emily and I'm a fifth year, with an interest in GP and dermatology. General practice appeals to me because of it's diversity. I am especially keen to promote awareness of the 'special interest' subjects that GPs can become qualified in, such as derm, emergency medicine and obstetrics amongst others. I'm very excited about moving this society on into its second year and hope we are able to promote GP as the interesting and rewarding occupation that it is!

Co-President : Sarah Kelly

I'm a fifth year as of July, and excited to be part of the Edinburgh GP soc. It is a great opportunity to learn about the exciting aspects of GP life over plenty of tea and cake!

I hope that we can involve as many people as possible in this new society, and make some exciting plans for the next year!
